Kulhuse 2019

Architecture and interior design

This private weekend house is a symbioses of both Danish and Japanese traditions where natural materials are combined. This naturality gives a special summerhouse feeling which differ from the house in the city.

All facade is covered with burnt wood using an old Japanese technique, which allows not to have any maintenance and it has a beautiful patina. The suspended balcony around the house and the glass facade reinforce the connection between inside and outside.

Paying with different roof angles makes the volume to appear smaller from all sides. This way the scale of the house fits perfectly with the scale of the other houses in the area.
